Booking.com's regional headquarters in Zagreb sought to seamlessly blend the essence of Booking.com as the world's most renowned travel agency with the charm of Zagreb as an emerging tourist destination.
The objective was to create a workspace that not only promotes comfort and efficiency but also fosters communication and collaboration among employees. While it functions as a unified whole, it is divided into two distinct zones - one dedicated to individual work, and the other tailored for meetings, socialising, and relaxation.
The first, working zone features neutral surfaces complemented by customisable elements that employees can personalise, such as writable walls and lockers. In contrast, the second, “socialising” zone is more vibrant, with decor inspired by Zagreb's unique motifs: street number plates, yellow sheeting reminiscent of city facades, surfaces resembling socialist tin cans, and graphics showcasing the city skyline.
Here, employees gather around a communal lunch table, enjoy a cosy coffee corner, convene at tram track meeting points equipped with sliding tables, or retreat to more private “rafts” adorned in the iconic red Šestine umbrella design - one of Zagreb's most recognisable symbols. To further evoke the city’s identity, the office features the iconic Zagreb meeting point, the city square watch, serving as a welcoming landmark at the entrance.
