Carpenters, traders, designers, and architects now have the showroom they've always desired. The design concept behind Fagus, a new showroom for paints, varnishes, and decorative floor and wall coatings, located in Velika Gorica near Zagreb, is rooted in a clear and orderly spatial logic for arranging samples in specific product categories.
Fagus offers a vast array of decoration products, as well as products for wood protection, flooring, and walls, spanning numerous shades, tones, and finishes. The entire product range has been thoughtfully displayed and incorporated into the building's interior design.
The main design feature is a prominent wall displaying most of the product samples. These samples are organised by category and purpose, allowing visitors to touch and feel them. This hands-on approach simplifies the decision-making process for customers and encourages experimentation with the products.
In the central zone, a large extendable table facilitates exploration of various combinations of materials and finishes. The circular layout and product display along the walls create an open space with well-defined zones. The central area accommodates lower tables and exhibition elements that do not disrupt the overall view of the showroom's architecture.
The central installation hanging from the ceiling draws inspiration from wood processing and painting techniques. Cut and varnished wooden rods of varying lengths are arranged in a hanging grid, serving as a captivating central visual attraction. The shopfront has been designed to accommodate different treated materials within predefined metal frames, allowing for layout changes and showcasing new finishes when necessary.
Various materials used in the design, including concrete, solid wood, veneer, MDF, glass, and metal, have been treated with finishes available from the company. This enables customers to immediately observe how specific finishes interact with real materials. The gallery space offers a gathering and presentation area, which can also double as an alternative office space, complete with a kitchen and dining room.
